You park your car, walk in the side door of the Hoffman Estates Community Center in suburban Chicago, and the first thing you see is some gray-haired, slightly hunched guy standing under a sign that says, "Senior Center. 50+ club." Chris Chelios is not aging well. What?

This seemed like a perfect fit for me. It's been a real long time since I've played 20, 25 minutes a game. It's been great.   -Chris Chelios

This past Saturday, sometime between watching Texas destroy Baylor and cringing as Jimmy Clausen was doing his best Ron Powlus impersonation, I was having an old school video game sesh with my buddy Stokes. Now when I say old school, I am not talking about Madden 2000. After reliving the '86 World Series and trying unsuccessfully to give Bill Buckner his well-deserved redemption through the majesty of RBI Baseball, a gentle glow caught the corner of my eye.

Steve Yzerman is the most important player to ever wear a Detroit Red Wings sweater. That might seem like a casual statement to modern fans, but not for me. I do not like to work in hyperbole.

I t all seemed so proper at the time - vote in a four-man review committee and allow it to investigate the calamities at the head office of the National Hockey League Players' Association. Only now there are calls to stop the investigation because the review committee has overstepped its mandate; because it is "agenda driven" and wants ousted executive director Paul Kelly back in office; because this whole review idea is too costly and too backward looking to help the beleaguered association. Led by a pair of Cory Emmerton goals, the Grand Rapids Griffins capped off the first perfect six-game homestand in franchise history with a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Wolves on Friday at Van Andel Arena.
